And I thought I left the mugger-toads behind in junior college. My class is apparently the most hardworking and diligent lot in recent times, the tutors said. Someone who graduated from the course (who will remain nameless) gave me the impression that there would be more drinking than studying. The reports of my partying have been greatly exaggerated, I fear. I attended a pub crawl and a housewarming and came back sober both times. Then, I get calls from relatives back home, asking whether I've been partying when I forget to call them on a Saturday night.
Alrighty, back to the books. I will be free in just over three weeks.

I bought a car.
Am strangely unexcited about it, considering that it is my very first car. My car was brand new when I was in Primary 6, and it is cute and small. And it's a manual with no power steering. But it had very good mileage and was cheap. It's cranky in the mornings, but forgiving when I do stupid things, like mix up first and third gear.
Maybe I will grow to love it. It's name is bambino.

Char kway teow weekend went well, and yes, there was lard involved.
My housemate Nick actually held the bowl of rendered fat upside down, and the spoon took 3 seconds to fall away. All that was missing were the bloody cockles, which we couldn't find. And the sweaty singlet and towel that the hawker wears.
And, being in a country where fermented grapes are cheap, we had champagne with char kway teow. Perfect. I guess there's a first for everything.
A girl from Tasmania just got married to the Danish crown prince over the weekend. The usual rah-rah, but this has got to be the funniest bit. They televised the ceremony live, and the Danish commentator introduced the bride's brother like this: He's some sort of engineer who works with digging, I guess you could call him a gold-digger.
Exams are coming up, though I am getting stressed about not feeling stressed. I fear the whole thing will be like a rollercoaster ride, by the time you start screaming, the ride is over.
And I bought a car, a cutesy toyota hatch. It looks like a 1.3 although it's a 1.6. And it's manual without power steering. Must get used to switching gears again.

newsflash:
A man died in the uni gym on tuesday. I went all the way into the city and akido class was cancelled (they closed the whole area off). I searched for my inner journalist and found that it wasn't there anymore. I took one look at the security guard, wondered if I should ask him for details, then went, nah, too much effort. I guess the laidback Aussie culture is starting to get to me. Or my inner journalist is still traumatised from pounding the mortuary beat three years ago.
And in weather, it's been pretty miserable. It's 15 degrees indoors, and it was about 5 degrees this morning. I can see my breath, which sort of gives me a thrill despite numb fingers, cold ears et al. Would trade it all for a diving holiday in Bali right this moment. sigh.

Have not been blogging for a couple of reasons. Real life is a bit dull at the moment, other than that day when I was caught in a hailstorm. Also, need to majorly catch up with school. Have been spending weekends cooking. Yes, I chose hommus over homework. My stomach is full but my brain is empty. My pseudo-profound saying of the week.
