I was driving and I heard on the radio that the monetary body in Singapore has decided that a combined asian currency like the Euro is not a feasible idea because the timing isn't right et al. I'm glad it is not going to happen any time soon, because that is the whole point of going overseas to Thailand and Malaysia to shop - it is much cheaper than in Singapore. Just met some australians on holiday, and they were exclaiming how much cheaper singapore is - $55 for 4 pairs of shoes - and several locals have given them puzzled looks, erm, yes, but it is much cheaper in Bangkok or KL...

Speaking of which, am heading to KL tonight to make my annual contribution to the malaysian retail economy, although I think I will aim for more restraint this year.
