A long way from the Waldorf

At the counter of hotel nan yeang in chinatown, KL, we saw this sign: Room 1 hour RM27, min 2 people. Extra 3rd person RM5.50.

We took the room for a night, only because we (here I don't mean me, subtly pointing finger at the other half) didn't get around to booking a proper hotel before we left, and we got to KL really really late following a horrendous traffic jam and bus ride. Imagine, 9 hours stuck behind a smoking driver.

The room was small and cramped, dispite the fact it came with TV, aircon and balcony, definitely for business, not romance. The corridor was outfitted in tacky pink, but I'm sure Wong Kar Wai could have done something beautiful with the 50s style stairwell and lift lobby.

No matter, the shopping more than made up for it. 1 Utama rocks! It even has a climbing gym, but I decided to give up climbing for sale time.
